Oh Samuel. This morning was NOT his morning. Last night Jacob put him down for a nap around 7 PM and he did NOT want to sleep. He would sleep for 10 seconds or so, and then wake up crying. Then Jacob would go in his room, love on him, and put him back down. And the whole process would start all over again. :( I went in about 8 PM, loved on him, and he went right to sleep. Until we woke him up at 9:30 PM. Babies are so funny sometimes.
Jacob and I worked on a few things and then climbed in bed pretty late, around 11:30 PM!! I kept waking up throughout the night hearing what my girlfriend Rebecca Kubo calls "the phantom baby", thinking I hear Samuel crying but he wasn't. And I kept getting up. Around 4 AM Samuel woke up crying. We think he's been having nightmares because for the past week or so he'll wake up from a nap or bedtime crying like he's upset or scared, and when we go in his room and love on him for a few minutes he goes right back to sleep. We don't need to rediaper him or feed him. And he's not hurting or anything. And it keeps happening.
This morning Samuel work up at 5:10 AM. I quickly threw on my workout clothes and went in his room. After changing his diaper we went downstairs where he gobbled down a 4oz formula/cereal bottle. Aaaand then he spit up an ounce or so....all over both of us. :( So I got him cleaned up, and back upstairs we went to change BOTH of us. He hung out on our bed while I brushed my teeth. I gave him a little more and we went back downstairs. Aaaaaand he spit up AGAIN! All over BOTH OF US. At this point it was after 6 and I couldn't help but notice the gridlock on I-64 on the news and all the wrecks. (it was raining) So I sent a text to my boss, put Samuel in a new onesie, got dressed in my cammies, wiped Samuel's tears, and we were finally out the door by 6:40 AM. Forty minutes later than usual. Sigh.
By the time I dropped off Samuel at Kathi's, I think he was ready to trade me in at the Mommy Store. As I took him out of his carseat and handed him to Shelby (Kathi's helper) he gave me a HUGE smile. And all was right in the world again. :)
Sure sounds like Samuel likes to be in charge of the wardrobe choice. Maybe you should just ask him what he wants to wear. Ha. Sorry you had such a rough start to your day! :)
