Haze grey and (not quite) underway

This past weekend was a bit of a downer. Jacob was supposed to check onboard the USS Truman on Sunday, but the plans kept changing. The mood in our house was more "going on deployment/not seeing him for 7-9 months" as opposed to "out to sea for a short bit." It's just so different now with Samuel. Not only am I taking care of the house, but also a 6.5 month old, AND I have to have the energy to do it all. "Tag, you're it" isn't an option. So, like I said, the plans kept changing. By the time we got Version 12, Revision 18, I was just ready for him to leave! Just kidding.  :) Although it was a little frustrating.

We made a second trip to the Oceana Exchange for a few more uniform items, Jacob washed his "boat" stuff, and worked on packing.

Samuel kept himself busy while we folded laundry...

And completed Covert Operation: Spitup in the corner

"I don't want to fold a dish towel. What is Daddy doing???"

"I can help you fold your sheets for your rack on the ship."

"I'm a big help, Daddy!"

"Ok, I will play over here now."

So this morning we all 3 left the house- Samuel and I to Kathi's for daycare, and Jacob to the ship. We're not sure how long he'll be gone. Did I mention he's not allowed to use his cellphone? And they aren't going anywhere!?!   :(

In other news, Samuel has received a few things in the mail. For his 6 month birthday, he received a bib, a sweet letter, and an ADORABLE shirt from my paternal G'parents. I still need to get pictures of those.

My Mom sent him a package today and he was having fun, so I snapped away!

(Here's the pictures I promised, Mom.)  :)

What is this???

Thanks G'ma!!! I LOVE plastic!

There's an opening here...

The paper is fun to tear!

Is it food?!?

Tearing....tearing...

OH!

CRACKERS!!!!!

He lifted the tissue package over his head...and out fell the presents! It was like he knew what to do.  :)

What.Is.This?!?

It looks like a bottle...

Attempting to sit up by himself. We call this the "sexy pose."  ;)

G'ma, where's the milk?

Cups are more fun than clothes

Still chewing on exploring the cup

This is fun!

Is he building a nest???

Thanks for the tissue paper. It's delicious!

Thanks for looking!

  1. 6-9 months, when they aren't going anywhere? Really? I'll be praying for you, Ashley - and hoping you can get home some...or that your family can visit to help out. Sheesh.

    1. He's not going to be gone that long yet. These are small trips in and out. It still stinks though. :(
