Learning to be flexible (and I'm a slow learner!)

I'm back!!! I don't know WHAT has been going on with my computer!  :( Luckily a girl at work put me in touch with one of her coworkers who's good with computers. He was able to take the trojan virus that I was so fortunate to have my on my computer  :(  and remove it, as well as clean everything up. I lost all the info in my Favorites folder. Luckily all my pictures are saved on an external hard drive (from my LAST computer that I downloaded a virus on) so I wasn't worried that I'd lose anything. Whew! Did you catch all that? I'm deadly with a computer. Jacob joked this weekend that my favorite website must be www.downloadatrojanvirus.com. I told him "Not funny!"

So what have we been up to? Funny you should ask. Here's an update in pictures...

On Saturday, October 13th, Samuel and I ran the Breast Cancer 5K down at the beachfront. We had an impressive time of 32 min, 15 sec!

Then we headed to Amy Norman's daughter, Renee's, 2nd birthday party.

Samuel had a blast checking out the Duplo blocks, and taking EVERYTHING off the shelves you see behind him.  :)

G'ma Hatfield came for a visit the following weekend, October 18-21st.

I reenlisted for 6 more years, and then the 3 of us (Jacob was out to sea) headed to the Navy Exchange to shop then up to the Williamsburg outlets. We treated ourselves to BBQ for lunch and crab cakes for dinner.

Sunday, the 21st, I ran another 5K race. My time was 29 min, 15 sec.
I'm wearing my First Class Petty Officer's Association (FCPOA) t-shirt.

The Truman came back on the 25th, a day early!!!

Samuel was VERY happy

Our family of 3
I had duty, so I was in my dress uniform.

Jacob had to leave again on the 26th due to a possible hurricane. When I asked him if he needed anything, he said he'd just take Samuel in his seabag so he wouldn't miss him so much.  :)

Friday night, the 26th, Jacob left to go back to the ship. Matt and Amanda arrived pretty late, and the 3 of us chatted for another 2 hours, before calling it quits at 2:30 AM. Could you tell we were happy to  be together? :)

I had plans to take Jacob out on Saturday, but he had been called back to the ship due to Hurricane Sandy. On Saturday, the 3 of us (minus a napping baby) were in the den when I got a call--- "I'm on my way home! All we did was move the ship from one pier to another. They let us leave!!!" Hooray! So Jacob came BACK home, and Amanda and I were able to shop at Michael's (minus the boys) for wedding stuff. We came back, Jacob and I got ready, and headed to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse for dinner. Matt and Amanda were on babysitting duty.

All dolled up

Military men- Matt in the Air Force, Jacob in the Navy
(Both are E-6s)

***Funny side note: Jacob made E-6 in 2006, Matt made it in 2009, and I made it in 2012.***

Amanda: "Can you put my socks on, Matt? My nails are tacky."
So he put them on her, heel up!  :)

And that's how we've been lately. I'm learning to be flexible. We have Hurricane Sandy in our area right now, but our house is faring well. We are so fortunate and I need to remember this. We have jobs, our health, our families, and each other. We are truly blessed!

Have a great week!
