This is Valentine's week. I ended up with 3 inserts since we finished out the week in TN.
The first insert is an 8x8 page protector holding Samuel's valentines from daycare. The little green owl was a treat from Kathi. :)
This is Samuel's valentine to me. Since it's rice, I decided to use laminate paper to protect it.
Since we ended the week in TN, I had TONS of photos. I printed 18 of them as 4x4 (at Walgreen's!!!) and added them to a page protector. I didn't any embellishments or round the corners. Just stuck them in in an order that I thought looked good, and called it done!
The back of the insert- all photos of Matt and Amanda from their shower
2nd half of the week's spread- I added stickers to all of the photos, and embellished the cards in each of the 3x4 pockets.
February 18-24: showcased by Vanna White Samuel :)
2nd half of the week- LOTS of journalling, a note from Amy embellished with washi tape
Feb 25- March 3: I had this half of the layout done before the weekend (photos taken with my camera)
2nd half of the week- photos taken with Jacob's camera. This side was tough to do. :(
I wanted to share a few things I did over the past few weeks to embellish, and hopefully I'll give you an idea or two to use in your own album. :)
A cluster of embellishments, otherwise known as "using up your stuff!"
This is a brad, some diecuts, and the top off of a decorated paper clip.
Wood speech bubble with the "speech bubble part" cut off, layered on top of a label sticker
Tag from a new pair of capris, ribbon through the hole that was already there!
I couldn't resist saving the happy meal fries container. It doesn't look that small, but in real life it's really small. I'll put it this way, that container only has 100 calories. 'Nuff said.
I let Samuel paint, and then cut out hearts to send to our families for Valentine's Day. One heart was left, so I added it to the calendar spot.
For the journaling about the shower, I used a 4x6 card folded in half. I already had this decorated when we went to TN, but I added the boy and girl stickers to represent Matt and Amanda. :)
For the valentine page, I couldn't get everything to stay in! I used my Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher to put a small staple at the top of the protector. It doesn't distract from the page, and the valentines can still be pulled out and looked at. But it keeps them from falling out.
OK. So you find the CUTEST thing, you HAVE to use it in PL, but...it won't fit in the pocket! What?!? This came in a monthly kit, but wouldn't fit. I can't trim it- it's an envelope! So what do you do? You attach it ON TOP OF THE POCKET!!! This was a light bulb moment for me. ;)
And my last tip- use a decorated paperclip to keep bulky calendar blocks in place. It's cute AND it's useful! :)
I hope you enjoyed looking at my pages. Thanks for stopping by!
I so enjoy seeing your Project Life entries. :) I love Samuel's valentine. Rice - who would have thought? I'm so glad you guys are together - and that you had a good weekend. It looks like your time in Tennessee was wonderful!!!! (I'm so sorry you lost your camera, though.)
