Monday night after Jacob got home I made a trip to the Farm Fresh grocery store. I usually go on Sunday, but our weekend was hectic so I wasn't able to. I realized AT THE STORE that I didn't have a thing for Jacob! I hadn't even made him a card!! (So unlike me!) So there I was, in the card section, looking at cards for my husband. On the 13th. :( I picked up the rotisserie chicken I came for, got a card and a few groceries, and came home.
Tuesday morning I got up and got myself and Samuel ready to go. Jacob didn't say much, and I was thinking he didn't even have a card for me. I dropped off Samuel at Kathi's (with a small box of chocolates for her) and headed to base to work out. When I walked into my office around 8 AM, this is what I saw...
My sneaky husband came into work that morning and surprised me!!! Later, he told me that he grabbed a vase from our house (so he didn't have to buy another one since we have so many), ribbon from my scrapbook room, and flowers from the store and brought them to work. While in his office, in front of his Sailors, he arranged flowers to bring upstairs. I guess they were all making wisecracks at him- "So you think you're a florist now?", "Who are the flowers for??"- but he didn't care. And the whole time I thought I wasn't even getting a card!!??!!
That afternoon I picked up Samuel and brought him home. He was acting crabby and was due for a nap, but that baby did NOT want to sleep! I finally got him to sleep and Jacob and I laid down for a nap at 7. The plan was to sleep for an hour.......and we woke up at 10:38 PM!!! Where did the time go?!?!?! We quickly woke up Samuel, fed him, and got him back in bed so he'd sleep all night. And my husband and I ate a romantic Valentine's Day dinner of Cheerios at 11:30 PM. :)
The rest of the week went by in a blur. Wednesday morning Kathi texted me to say she wasn't feeling well, and I had to wait for her replacement, Shelby, to come in. So Samuel and I hung out until about 9 when I could drop him off. That afternoon he sounded a little mucos-y, so we ran to Walgreen's to get him some Baby Vick's Vapor Rub. Thursday he sounded even worse. Jacob ran to Walmart and bought saline nasal spray plus a humidifier. We had a sick baby on our hands!! :( We elevated the mattress in his crib, and got to work making him feel better with steam in the shower, Vick's, and the saline spray. By Friday he was sounding a little better, and today we got some smiles and coos out of him. I think he's on the rebound. :)
So this week has been crazy. Valentine's Day seems like weeks ago instead of 4 days ago. With Samuel being sick, making arrangements for Samuel to be with Shelby since Kathi was sick, and Jacob and I just been EXHAUSTED.....it's been a rough week. Knowing we were having a 3 day weekend was the only thing keeping us going.
Today has been a little warmer than it's been all week. I had plans to take Samuel to a baby shower if Jacob ended up working, but luckily Jacob was at home so I didn't have to take Samuel out of the house. It was fun going to a shower for a girl at work having a girl- lots of pink! :) Depending on how Samuel sounds tomorrow, the plan is to go to church. Jacob got most of the chores done while I was gone today (but I did the laundry!) so we have the weekend to play.
We might even get Shelby to babysit so we can do a lunch/movie date on Monday. We'll see...
And here's a few pictures of our sweet Samuel because what would this blog be without him??? :)
Enjoy your weekend!
Hey, friend - I'm sorry your week was so nuts...but I'm thankful that Samuel is feeling better! How sweet of our husband to get your flowers! (He is a wonderful man!) Cheerios for Valentine's dinner will be a memory you'll always treasure. Ha. It was SO good to hear what you've been up to...and to SEE Samuel with his Mom and Dad!
