Making a card

***Spoiler alert for my Mother-In-Law, Lori***

I made a birthday card for Lori the other night, and I wanted to walk you through the process.

I'm working on finishing a scrapbook layout from my monthly class, so I used that as inspiration.

Unfinished layout. Sorry the pages look distorted. I took the photo upside down to prevent a shadow.  :)

***Here are the finished pages- Easter Sunday.***

I had these scraps left over, and thought I'd use them instead of cutting up more paper.

I took an 8.5x11 piece of white cardstock and cut it in half for the card.

This clear transparency tag was so pretty, and I thought I could do something with it. In my scrapbook class, we've learned to take these, put paper behind them, and add to a page for an accent. So I decided I'd do something similar for the card.

This paper had a pretty pattern, but it wasn't too distracting behind the transparency. I knew I could stamp "Happy Birthday" on it, and you would still be able to see it. (I cut the card down to fit the paper scrap.)

This yellow paper, punched with a border punch, would go over the top of the card. (on the crease)

Punched and folded to go on the card.

Here is the completed card. I added some ribbon to the top, and a few gemstones to the flowers. I stamped on the printed paper, and adhered the transparency at the top so it hangs loose. I'm pleased with how it turned out.

Ready to mail!  :)
