Pay it forward

I was explaining to a girl at work today how I don't believe in karma. As a Christian, I believe that you should treat others the way you want to be treated. That being said, if you are unkind to others, it will come back to you. There's a reason I'm saying all this...

On Sunday afternoon I was putting off grocery shopping.  :) Both the boys were napping, so I decided to lay down on the bed and nap. Aaaand my phone went off. A young Sailor who is going out to sea for the first time started texting me with all her questions. Once that was done, my friend Amy Norman called me.

Amy and I go way back. Pre-Japan, Jacob and I were dating, way back. She is a good (local) friend that would be willing to take my child. (FYI- Since Jacob and I are dual military, if something were to happen, we have a Family Care Plan. Amy will take Samuel until my parents can get to VA.)

Making this EVEN longer...  :) Amy called me to see how I was doing. She told me about a baby shower she was throwing on Sunday (that I didn't plan on attending due to childcare) and asked the most amazing question, "When you come over on Sunday, want to bring Sam, Greg can watch him, and we can go to the baby shower? He'll be at home with Renee, so our kids can play together." Absolutely!! She wanted to know if HER HUBBY could watch my child?!? So I could attend a shower at a restaurant- baby free!! Of course!! Talk about an amazing friend. So I'll be helping her play hostess on Sunday.

Which brings me to paying it forward...

I got done working out yesterday, went back to work to finish a few things, and walked right into an interesting conversation. One of our Sailor's wives had an appointment today, he was catching rides due to car trouble, he was also in a school all week, and they have a 1 year old daughter that would need to be looked after while the wife was being seen by the doctor. What?!? Only in the military. Of course my Senior Chief couldn't make me do it, but I was the most likely candidate to volunteer.

So I left early today, drove out to Hampton, picked up a girl and her daughter, and took them to an appointment. Did I mention I'd never met this person before in my life??? We ended up having the best time! She loves purple like I do, we talked "mom talk" about everything under the sun, and just chatted. It was like hanging out with an old friend. How cool is that?  :)

My friend Amy is doing something nice for me, and I was able to help out Marcella and watch Mora while she was at the doctor. And I still picked up Samuel on time.

It all works out in His time.  :)

I'm so glad you get to go to the shower! The whole story just made me smile! :)
